We are partnering with a growing, international infrastructure business with a portfolio of long-term assets across several markets. The Group is backed by institutional investors and is continuing to expand its operations and investment portfolio.

As the business continues to scale, they are now looking to appoint a Group Financial Controller to strengthen and develop its finance operations, reporting and control environment. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a complex, international business, improving the foundations and capabilities needed to support its next phase of growth.

The Role

Reporting to the Group CFO and sitting on the Finance Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the Controller Office, with responsibility for group accounting and reporting, transactional finance, financial controls, audit, finance systems and tax. You will lead a large team and help ensure the finance function is robust, efficient and scalable across a Group.

Key areas will include:

  • Leading, developing and setting direction for the Controller team
  • Owning the Group's accounting, consolidation, financial reporting and control framework
  • Overseeing month-end and year-end reporting, statutory accounts and external audit
  • Strengthening financial controls, governance, compliance and risk management
  • Ensuring effective transactional finance and consistent service delivery across the Group
  • Overseeing tax compliance and contributing to tax strategy and transaction structuring
  • Driving improvements across finance systems, processes, automation and reporting
  • Supporting investment activity, acquisitions and other complex transactions
  • Managing relationships with external auditors, advisers and outsourced service providers
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders across finance and the wider business to support growth

What They're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a qualified finance leader with a strong technical grounding and experience leading financial control and reporting in a complex, multi-entity organisation.

You should ideally have:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification and a strong technical accounting background
  • Significant experience leading finance operations, group reporting and financial control
  • Experience in a complex, international and multi-entity business
  • A track record of leading and developing sizeable finance teams
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, statutory reporting, audit and financial governance
  • Experience improving finance systems, processes and controls, including automation or ERP change
  • Exposure to tax, transaction structuring and complex corporate or investment activity
  • The confidence to influence senior stakeholders and work effectively across the business
  • Experience managing external advisers, auditors and outsourced finance providers
  • Experience in an investor-backed, capital-intensive or asset-heavy business would be particularly relevant, as would experience working across multiple jurisdictions and accounting frameworks.

If you're an experienced finance leader looking to take ownership of finance operations and control within a growing international group, we'd be keen to hear from you.
