Job Number: 32968

Group Financial Controller | PE-Backed Healthcare
We are partnering with a high-growth, PE-backed specialist care business supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs across a growing network of services.
The Group is on an ambitious growth journey, combining organic expansion with a clear appetite for further M&A. As the business continues to scale, they are looking to appoint a Group Financial Controller to strengthen the finance function and help build the systems, processes and controls required for the next phase of growth.
This is a genuine opportunity to have an impact in a growing, multisite organisation rather than simply maintaining an established finance function.
The Role
Reporting to the CFO, you will take ownership of the Group's financial control environment, ensuring accurate, timely and robust reporting across multiple entities, locations and P&Ls.
You will also lead and develop the finance team, drive improvements across systems and processes, and act as a key finance partner to the CFO, CEO and wider senior leadership team.
Key areas will include:
  • Leading and developing the Group finance team
  • Ownership of the financial control environment
  • Group month-end, year-end and consolidation
  • Leading the annual audit and managing external auditors
  • Ensuring accuracy across regional and individual P&Ls
  • Strengthening controls, processes and compliance
  • Driving automation, technology and AI across finance
  • Supporting future acquisitions and integration activity
  • Working alongside commercial finance on budgeting, forecasting and business planning
  • Providing technical accounting and financial control expertise
  • Acting as a trusted senior stakeholder who can challenge and provide insight
What They're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be an experienced finance professional with a strong financial control background who has operated within a complex, multisite or multi-entity organisation.
You should ideally have:
  • ACA or ACCA qualification with 7 years + PQE
  • Strong financial control and financial reporting experience
  • Experience across multiple entities, locations or P&Ls
  • Previous experience managing and developing a finance team
  • Strong technical accounting and control knowledge
  • The confidence and gravitas to work with senior stakeholders and challenge where appropriate
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A hands-on and pragmatic approach, with the ability to get into the detail while maintaining a Group-level perspective
Healthcare, care or experience working with local authorities would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Previous PE-backed experience would also be beneficial, particularly for candidates who have operated in a high-growth or acquisitive environment.
What Makes This Opportunity Interesting?
This is a key appointment at an important stage of the Group's growth.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
  • Help build a robust and scalable financial control environment
  • Lead and develop the finance team
  • Improve the accuracy, efficiency and timeliness of financial reporting
  • Drive automation, technology and process improvement
  • Support future M&A and integration activity
  • Work closely with the CFO, CEO and senior leadership team
  • Play a key role in shaping the finance function as the Group continues to grow
If you're an experienced Financial Controller looking for your next step within a growing, PE-backed healthcare business, I'd be keen to speak with you.
