Finance Manager

Finance Manager required for a high growth, PE backed company based in Maidenhead

£60,000 - £65,000, depending on experience

As the Finance Manager, you will take a hands-on leadership role within the finance function of a fast-growing, private equity-backed business. This permanent position is focused on strengthening and structuring the accounting team, driving improvements in month-end close processes, financial reporting, and compliance. You will manage one direct report who is on the path to qualification and work closely with the wider finance team to implement consistent controls and procedures. A key part of your role will be to lead the audit process and liaise with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial statements. You will also support VAT compliance and tax-related activities, working alongside outsourced specialists where necessary.

This role offers the chance to shape the finance function, contribute to key projects including M&A initiatives, and collaborate with senior leadership in a supportive environment that values development, attention to detail, and practical problem-solving.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant with ACA or ACCA qualification.
  • Proven ability in technical accounting and financial reporting, with hands-on experience managing month-end close processes, controls, and audit preparation.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, including impairment, going concern, viability assessments, and VAT compliance.
  • Confident and clear communicator, capable of engaging with senior leadership, auditors, and cross-functional teams to explain technical accounting matters and drive process improvements.
  • Strong attention to detail and a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the month-end close process, driving improvements to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient financial reporting.
  • Lead the preparation and review of key financial statements, including VAT submissions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the audit process in partnership with external auditors, coordinating documentation and addressing queries to achieve smooth audit sign-off.
  • Work closely with the CFO and finance leadership to develop and implement robust accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the finance function's efficiency, including documentation and standardisation of month-end procedures.
  • Support tax compliance activities, particularly VAT, ensuring submissions are accurate and controls are in place.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams on finance projects, including M&A initiatives and system implementations, contributing technical accounting expertise.
