Stanton House is currently recruiting for a Head of Finance to join a growing PE-backed Energy Business. This is a permanent part-time opportunity (3 days per week), offering a salary of £80,000 – 85,000 (pro rata) per annum plus benefits. This role is a hybrid position based in Scotland.
This role will take ownership of the end-to-end finance function, operating in a Controller-style capacity and acting as a key strategic partner to the leadership team and investors.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the annual business planning, budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with the broader business objectives.
• Prepare and present accurate monthly management accounts, board packs and financial analysis, providing clear and actionable insights.
• Oversee cash flow, working capital and cash forecasting, reporting cash position and risks to senior stakeholders and investors.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FRS, GAAP), implementing robust financial controls and risk management processes.
• Act as the primary finance contact for internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, investors, customers and suppliers.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a small finance team, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture.
• Support and review pricing and cost allocation arrangements across key contracts.
• Produce high-level financial and KPI reporting for senior stakeholders, including regular performance reviews.
To be suitable for this role you must have the following:
• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years post-qualified.
• Previous experience operating at a similar level (Head of Finance / Financial Controller).
• Strong experience across budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and cash flow management.
• Exposure to contracts and project finance
• Comfortable working in a hands-on role within a growing business.
• A pragmatic, steady approach, suited to someone who enjoys keeping the finance function running smoothly rather than driving large-scale transformation.
• Strong proficiency in financial software (e.g., ERP systems, Sage, Xero) and advanced skills in data analysis tools like Microsoft Excel are required.
• Energy, Industrial, and Engineering sector experience is preferred.
