About the Organisation
I am working with a values-led, evidence-based charity working to improve outcomes for children and young people. Currently partnering with 50 schools and supporting over 1,700 children across West London and the North West, they help develop the social, emotional and academic skills young people need to thrive.
Over the next five years, they plan to double their reach, roll out a refreshed place-based model, and launch a new initiative to share their approach and tools more widely. Building a robust, scalable data and systems infrastructure is key to achieving these goals.
About the Role
We're seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Data and Systems to lead the evolution of their data infrastructure. You'll bring expertise in designing and delivering integrated data solutions across platforms, with a particular focus on supporting programme delivery, performance monitoring, and organisational growth.
Their current environment includes Salesforce (case management, monitoring, and reporting), and early-stage Power BI adoption They're looking to modernise and scale this architecture to meet growing demand.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and System Design
- Own and develop our data architecture to ensure secure, scalable integration across internal teams and external partners.
- Ensure platforms (especially Salesforce) support evaluation and growth.
- Contribute to the creation of a data-enabled 'Blueprint for Change' for external adoption.
Platform and Vendor Management
- Oversee all platforms and integrations, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Ensure all users are trained effectively and supported.
Data Quality and Compliance
- Drive best practices in data collection, storage and use, ensuring accuracy and legal compliance (UK GDPR).
- Work closely with safeguarding and data protection leads to manage risk.
Insights and Reporting
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to support programme learning and fundraising.
- Collaborate across teams to identify key metrics and data sources.
Innovation and Improvement
- Identify opportunities to implement automation and predictive analytics.
- Stay ahead of future requirements and propose continuous improvements.
Team and Project Management
- Manage the Data & Systems team and lead projects from planning to delivery.
- Work with external suppliers and partners as needed.
Person Specification
Essential
- Proven experience leading data and tech projects with strong project and stakeholder management.
- Experience working with Salesforce and other data platforms.
- Strong understanding of scalable data infrastructure and integrations (e.g., APIs, data warehousing).
- Ability to support remote and cross-functional teams with robust solutions.
Desirable
- Experience of data governance, especially in handling sensitive data.
- Previous experience in the charity or education sector.
- Skilled in line management and team development.
