Stanton House is working exclusively with a leading PE-backed technology services and software business to appoint a Group Financial Controller. This is a senior leadership role and an exciting opportunity to join the organisation at a pivotal stage, following recent backing from a reputable mid-market private equity fund.
As Group Financial Controller, you will work closely with a recently appointed CFO to establish and scale a finance function built for long-term success. You will play a key role in developing a best-in-class finance capability to support the group through its next phase of growth.
This is a broad, hands-on leadership position with responsibility for driving financial discipline, enhancing reporting, strengthening controls, and supporting strategic initiatives across the group. The role requires a strong people leader who can inspire, develop, and manage a high-performing finance team, while remaining actively involved in shaping processes, driving change, and embedding transformation across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and own the group finance function, including managing the AP, AR and billing teams.
Deliver high-quality, timely monthly group reporting, management accounts and board-level packs
Own statutory reporting across the group, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax completeness.
Strengthen financial controls, governance and processes in line with PE best practice
Play a leading role in finance transformation, including systems and processes
Be a hands-on leader, working alongside the team to drive process improvements and embed change
Act as a key finance partner to the CFO, supporting strategic initiatives, growth planning and value creation
Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering collaboration and accountability
Support integration of acquisitions and other corporate activity as required
Work closely with external stakeholders including auditors, advisors and investors
Key Requirements
Big 4 trained (ACA qualified or equivalent) with strong technical accounting foundations
At least 8 years PQE with proven experience as a Group Financial Controller or similar within a PE-backed environment
Background in technology, software, or services businesses preferred
Demonstrable experience delivering finance transformation and change, including systems and process improvement
Experience in building best in class finance teams to support growth
Strong people leadership skills, capable of inspiring, coaching, and managing a high-performing team
Hands-on approach with a willingness to roll up sleeves and drive change forward
Strong understanding of PE reporting requirements, investor expectations and exit readiness
Systems savvy, with experience improving or implementing finance systems and reporting tools, knowledge of MD Business Central is desirable
Commercially minded, resilient and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
