Opportunity description

Job Title:
Head of Management Accounting

Location: Surrey | Hybrid Working (3 days in office)
Salary: £85,000 – £95,000 + bonus + benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially minded finance leader to join a growing, private equity-backed business as Head of Management Accounting.

This is a newly created role within a transforming finance function, designed to strengthen processes, improve reporting quality, and drive greater operational rigour across the business. Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, you will play a key role in shaping the management accounting function while partnering closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, IT, HR, and Operations.

This opportunity would suit a strong Senior Management Accountant or Finance Manager ready to step into a broader leadership role, or an existing Head of Management Accounting seeking a fresh challenge within a dynamic and evolving environment.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, developing, and mentoring a team of Management Accountants
  • Delivering timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reporting packs
  • Producing meaningful variance analysis and insightful financial commentary
  • Driving improvements across management reporting processes, controls, and systems
  • Leading the month-end process, including journals, reconciliations, and intercompany activities
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders across central functions including IT, HR, and Marketing
  • Supporting system implementations, process automation, and continuous improvement projects
  • Ensuring robust financial controls and compliance with accounting standards

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification
  • Approximately 5+ years’ post-qualified experience
  • Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring finance teams
  • Excellent analytical and business partnering skills
  • Advanced Excel capabilities including pivots and lookups
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge and improve existing processes
  • The ability to communicate effectively with senior and sometimes demanding stakeholders

Exposure to private equity environments and experience with financial systems such as SAP B1 or Adaptive Insights would be advantageous, but not essential.

What’s on Offer

  • Newly created role with genuine scope to make an impact
  • Strong progression opportunities within a growing business
  • Collaborative and supportive finance team environment
  • Hybrid working model
  • Competitive salary, bonus, and benefits package

If you are looking for an opportunity to help shape a finance function, drive meaningful change, and take ownership within a high-growth environment, we would love to hear from you.
