A private equity-backed software business is seeking an experienced Interim Group Financial Accounting Consultant to support its finance function during a period of significant activity. This is a hands-on contract requiring an experienced technical accountant who can operate with minimal supervision and deliver high-quality financial reporting within a fast-paced environment.
Working closely with the Group Finance leadership team, you will play a key role in supporting statutory audit requirements, acquisition accounting, group consolidations, and complex intercompany accounting. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced contractor looking for a fully remote assignment with an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts and supporting documentation to a standard that will withstand external audit scrutiny.
- Support the delivery of statutory audits, ensuring all audit requests are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Manage acquisition accounting, including fair value adjustments and purchase accounting.
- Prepare consolidated group financial statements.
- Support accounting for hive-ups and wider corporate restructuring activities.
- Perform and resolve complex intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Ensure the correct accounting treatment of subsidiaries both pre and post hive-up.
- Analyse and interrogate financial data within Xero, investigating issues and resolving queries independently.
- Work closely with senior finance stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Provide technical accounting support across a range of ad hoc finance projects as required.
To Be Suitable
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
- Proven experience supporting statutory audits within a complex group environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly around acquisition accounting and fair value accounting.
- Experience preparing consolidated financial statements.
- Previous exposure to hive-ups, group restructures, and associated accounting treatments.
- Strong understanding of intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
- Hands-on experience using Xero, with the ability to interrogate financial data and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working autonomously in a remote environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.
- Available to commence immediately.
