About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Head of Finance Systems to lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of a modern finance systems landscape within a large, complex, and mission-driven organisation. The role offers a rare opportunity to shape the Finance of Tomorrow - defining the systems roadmap, driving integration between platforms (including SAP and Workday), and enabling smarter, faster, and more connected financial processes. As a key bridge between Finance, Technology, and the wider business, you will lead cross-functional transformation initiatives, enhance data governance, and ensure finance systems fully support both regulatory and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and deliver the Finance Systems strategy and roadmap, aligned with Finance, IT, and organisational objectives.
• Gain a full understanding of the current systems landscape and multiple ongoing transformation programmes.
• Lead system-related change initiatives - including ERP implementations, integrations, and upgrades - ensuring delivery to scope, quality, and budget.
• Drive automation, simplification, and process efficiency across financial operations.
• Establish robust data governance frameworks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
• Act as the key liaison between Finance, Technology, and business stakeholders.
• Monitor and improve system performance, ensuring a seamless user experience.
• Lead and develop a team of finance systems specialists and project managers.
• Influence senior stakeholders to secure alignment and support for finance transformation initiatives.

About You

You're a qualified finance professional with a passion for technology and transformation. You combine strong technical understanding with the ability to engage senior leaders and deliver tangible change.

You will bring:

• A recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience leading Finance Systems strategy and implementation in a large organisation.
• Hands-on expertise with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or Workday.
• Ability to translate accounting and reporting needs into effective systems design.
• Track record of delivering measurable impact through automation and process improvement.
• Strong communicator with the confidence to operate across Finance, IT, and senior leadership.
• Experience in organisations of similar scale (around 10,000 employees) - complex but not overly bureaucratic.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple transformation programmes simultaneously.
