Job Title:
Finance Business Partner
Stanton House is partnering with a leading multi-channel media and publishing organisation to appoint a Finance Manager on a 15-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave.
The business operates a portfolio of well-established consumer brands across publishing, digital, audio and broader media channels, reaching millions of customers and audiences. The finance function plays a central role in supporting commercial decision-making, driving performance and delivering insight across a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, this position sits at the centre of a major publishing division, supporting a broad range of commercial and operational functions including marketing, subscriptions, editorial and revenue-generating activities.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted finance business partner to senior stakeholders, providing financial insight, challenging investment decisions and helping shape commercial strategy. The role combines business partnering, financial planning, scenario modelling and team leadership, whilst overseeing a significant cost base and supporting key growth initiatives.
This role will suit a qualified accountant who enjoys influencing decision-making, working closely with operational leaders and operating within a dynamic, consumer-focused environment.
Responsibilities
• Partner with senior stakeholders across marketing, subscriptions, editorial and commercial teams to support business performance and decision-making.
• Develop KPI reporting and analysis for subscription growth areas, including trend analysis and scenario modelling.
• Lead pricing and margin analysis across paid sales activities.
• Review promotional and marketing activity, ensuring appropriate financial recognition and commercial understanding.
• Own the editorial cost base, providing budget management, spend analysis and ongoing performance commentary.
• Work closely with operational leaders to identify efficiencies and improve cost control.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and planning processes across areas of responsibility.
• Review and challenge investment requests, ensuring business cases are commercially and financially robust.
• Provide analysis and insight to identify risks, opportunities and performance improvement initiatives.
• Drive process improvement, automation and reporting efficiencies across the finance function.
• Deliver financial modelling to support strategic decision-making and growth opportunities.
• Support senior finance leadership on commercial projects and ad hoc business initiatives.
• Manage and develop junior members of the finance team.
Requirements
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Several years of post-qualified experience within commercial finance, finance business partnering or finance management roles.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence non-finance audiences.
• Experience leading budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple functions and levels of seniority.
• Ability to challenge constructively and influence decision-making.
• Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
• Previous experience managing, mentoring or developing finance team members.
Desired
• Experience within subscription-based businesses.
• Exposure to media, publishing, digital or marketing-led organisations.
• Knowledge of TM1 or comparable financial planning tools.
• Experience driving automation, reporting improvements or AI-enabled efficiencies.
• Strong financial modelling and business case evaluation experience.
