Interim Financial Modeller

This is an opportunity to join a high-performing commercial function that plays a critical role in securing and shaping new business opportunities. The team works closely with operational, business development and senior leadership stakeholders to develop commercially robust bidding solutions and influence key contract decisions.

Role

This position sits within a commercial and bid-focused team, supporting the development of large-scale contract opportunities through detailed financial modelling and commercial analysis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for translating operational solutions into financial outcomes, developing pricing models that support decision making throughout the bid lifecycle. The role offers significant exposure to operational leaders, business development teams and senior management, providing a broad understanding of how major service contracts are structured, priced and delivered.

This is well suited to an analytically minded individual who enjoys building complex models, solving commercial challenges and working across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced bidding environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain complex pricing and cost models to support new business opportunities.
• Translate operational delivery solutions into detailed financial outputs, including profit and loss, cash flow and balance sheet forecasts.
• Work closely with operational and business development teams to gather inputs and understand proposed service solutions.
• Analyse and develop bid models that support contract pricing, profitability assessment and commercial decision making.
• Review commercial contract terms and payment mechanisms, identifying financial implications and risks within proposed agreements.
• Produce logical, data-driven analysis and present findings to support strategic business decisions.
• Partner with stakeholders across multiple business units to assess feasibility, commercial integrity and bid viability.
• Provide financial modelling and analytical support across a range of bid and business projects.
• Act as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders requiring bid and financial analysis.
• Collaborate within cross-functional bid teams, often working in virtual project environments.
• Support the development and onboarding of junior analytical talent within the team.

Requirements

Essential

• Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong financial modelling capability with experience building and analysing complex pricing models.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets and modelling tools.
• Analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
• Proactive and self-motivated approach with strong attention to detail.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.

Desired

• Previous experience supporting bids, tenders or contract pricing activities.
• Background in finance, commercial analysis or broader business planning functions.
• Degree with a strong quantitative focus such as Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or a related subject.
• Experience working in contract-led, operationally focused or outsourced services environments.
