Opportunity description

A global financial services platform is looking to appoint a Head of Finance. Our clients approach supports corporates, entrepreneurs and investors by providing access to capital, advice and administration services. Following a period of acquisition and operational integration, a Head of Finance is required to develop and lead the group's central finance function.

The role will be focused on the integration of historic acquisitions (standardisation of reporting framework / chart of accounts and treasury processes), process improvement (consolidation and reporting tempo) and team development (structure, recruitment, performance management and upskilling).

The ideal candidate will be ambitious to build and lead a successful and enabling Finance function in a growing business.

In order to be successful within the role;

  • Accounting qualification, with experience of managing finance teams.
  • Experience of key finance processes (treasury, reporting and forecasting), automation, and optimisation - ideally in a B2B trading business.
  • Experience of configuring and working with Xero preferred.
  • Experience of multi entity / multi jurisdiction consolidation (and ideally the integration of newly acquired businesses).
  • Highly motivated, proactive, self-starter
  • Excellent team management and strong leadership experience
  • Analytical mindset with a keen eye for process improvements.
  • Happy to roll sleeves up and demonstrate a hands-on working style
  • High levels of attention to detail and ability to take full accountability for output produced - comfortable reporting directly into Board level / business ownership
  • Exceptional organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Experience of team development: hiring, performance management, organisational design and professional development.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Team management: develop a high performing offshore Finance team comprising c25 colleagues and lead by an offshore financial controller - including biannual site visits, recruitment, performance management, organisational design and skills planning.
  • Process improvement: design and deliver a plan for process efficiency, automation and business partnership - including the integration of historic acquisitions and embedding a new consolidation approach.
  • Internal reporting: responsibility for the preparation process and final review of management accounts (and Board reporting), review of AR and AP ledgers, control accounts and other financial control activities.
  • Treasury optimisation: monitoring and improvement of the group's treasury function - accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash management, ensuring overall integrity of the general ledger, cash forecasting and cash generation (noting the high transaction frequency of some business lines).
  • Audit: lead the annual audit process (including of certain regulated entities) - in particular process planning, lead on auditor relationship and delivery of process on time, to budget and at high standard.
  • Control environment: build out the groups control environment - incorporating feedback from auditors and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Forecasting: process management and lead reviewer on budgetary forecasts (quarterly) and cash flow forecasts (weekly) - including scoping of process, critical review of inputs, and presentation of outputs to Board
  • Bank reporting: review of bank reporting and management of day-to-day relationship
  • Board attendance: attendance of monthly partnership Board meeting - with associated reporting and input sought
