This is a high-profile opportunity for a seasoned finance leader who can quickly assess a complex environment, bring stability to the finance function, and drive meaningful improvement across reporting, controls and operating effectiveness.

Operating at executive level, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening financial performance, improving the quality and accuracy of reporting, and helping shape the future operating model of the finance function.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the existing Group Finance Director, you will take ownership of key transformation and improvement initiatives, ensuring the finance function is positioned to support strategic decision-making effectively.

Key priorities will include:

  • Stabilising and strengthening the finance function during a period of change
  • Improving the quality, consistency and accuracy of financial and management reporting
  • Enhancing financial controls, governance and reporting processes
  • Supporting the development and implementation of an improved Target Operating Model (TOM)
  • Providing technical accounting leadership across complex financial matters
  • Partnering with executive stakeholders to influence decision-making and drive accountability
  • Building capability within the team while fostering a high-performance culture
  • Identifying operational inefficiencies and delivering sustainable improvements across finance processes

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 6–12 months, you will have:

  • Brought greater stability and structure to the finance function
  • Improved reporting quality and reduced inaccuracies
  • Increased confidence among executive stakeholders in finance outputs
  • Strengthened leadership capability across the team
  • Delivered tangible progress against finance transformation objectives
  • Established a clearer, more effective operating model for the function

About You

We are seeking an experienced interim Group Finance Director-level professional who has operated within £1bn plus businesses, who has successfully led finance teams through periods of change and transformation.

You will bring:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
  • Significant leadership experience within complex, multi-entity organisations
  • A strong background in finance transformation, process improvement and operational excellence
  • Exceptional technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
  • Proven ability to engage, influence and challenge Executive and Board-level stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable insight
  • A collaborative leadership style with a track record of developing teams and improving performance
  • The resilience and credibility required to operate effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment

Sector Experience

Individuals with backgrounds in heavy industrial, engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure or similarly complex operational environments will be particularly well suited.

Ultimately, we are looking for an outstanding leader with the capability and gravitas to make an immediate impact.
