European Indirect Tax Lead - VAT specialism

Location: Berkshire (Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days home)

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + benefits

We are working with a leading manufacturer looking for an experienced European Indirect Tax Lead. This is a newly created role to lead on VAT and indirect tax operations across multiple European entities.

You will be focusing on VAT compliance, process improvement, and working with the shared service team. You'll act as the main point of contact for all indirect tax matters, internal and external advisors, to ensure accurate reporting and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities of the European Indirect Tax Lead

  • Oversee indirect tax activities across approximately 18 European entities, ensuring accurate VAT, Intrastat and other submissions.
  • Manage the relationship with the shared service centre and review their work.
  • Lead contact for tax audits, coordinating responses and liaising with external advisors.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and improve processes and controls.
  • Support the implementation of a new European tax operating model, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all regions.

Ideal profile for European Indirect Tax Lead

  • Significant experience in European indirect tax.
  • Strong technical understanding of VAT and Intrastat requirements.
  • Analytical, detail oriented, and comfortable managing complex processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A qualification (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) is desirable.
