Job Title: Staff Detection Engineer
Location: New York City, NY or San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)
Compensation: Up to $350,000K + equity 

The Role
A mission-critical AI infrastructure organization building the computer and data centers powering frontier AI is looking for an experienced Staff Detection Engineer to lead detection engineering across its IT environment.

You will define and build detection capabilities from the ground up, protecting some of the most critical and high-value infrastructure being developed today. This role focuses on designing scalable detection systems to defend against sophisticated, persistent threats, while setting the technical foundation for how detection and response operate across IT systems supporting next-generation AI workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and lead detection engineering across the IT environment, including cross-domain coverage with OT and physical systems

• Design, build, and tune detections-as-code with CI/CD, peer review, and measurable quality metrics
• Develop and implement behavioral analytics and anomaly detection models using AI/ML techniques
• Build and enhance detection tooling, including LLM-driven and agentic security capabilities
• Establish engineering standards, methodologies, and coverage frameworks for detection engineering
• Conduct threat and security research to identify gaps and drive new detection capabilities
• Partner with security engineering, incident response, and threat intelligence teams to improve response outcomes
• Contribute to and support incident response operations, including participation in on-call rotation
• Drive continuous improvement in detection precision, recall, and operational effectiveness

About You

• Strong experience in detection engineering, with a track record of building and scaling detection programs

• Proficiency in coding and query languages and working with large-scale security data
• Experience developing custom detection logic across diverse telemetry sources
• Hands-on experience with incident response and security investigations
• Familiarity with building or implementing detection CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of what drives effective detection in production environments
• Experience collaborating across security, engineering, and platform teams
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to identify problems, scope solutions, and execute independently
