Job Title: Principal Detection & Response Engineer
Job Location: New York, NY (on-site)
Compensation: $300,000 base salary plus benefits
A leading financial services firm is building out its security detection and response capability and is looking for a senior individual contributor to own strategy and execution for threat detection, response, and automation across a complex enterprise environment.
What You’ll Do
• Build and tune detection logic across endpoint, identity, network, and cloud signals
• Lead incident response for high impact events, including triage, containment, and root cause analysis
• Partner with infrastructure and application teams to improve logging, telemetry, and detection coverage
• Automate response workflows to reduce time to detect and time to contain
• Drive continuous improvement through threat hunting, purple team exercises, and post incident learnings
What You Bring
• Strong experience in detection engineering and incident response in an enterprise environment
• Hands on expertise with SIEM and EDR platforms, including building rules and tuning alerts
• Solid understanding of attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures and how to detect them
• Proficiency in scripting or automation for security operations, such as Python or similar
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical teams and senior stakeholders
